ENTERPRISE RISK ASSESSMENT (ERA)

Brett Ratner was accused by Natasha Henstridge, Olivia Munn, and four other women of sexual assault, harassment, and masturbation in front of them between 1990–2005.

Warner Bros. severed ties and ended his $450M deal in 2018; his Hollywood career stalled until a controversial 2025 comeback with Rush Hour 4.

Additional red flags include homophobic slurs causing his 2011 Oscars resignation, links to Jeffrey Epstein, multiple unpaid-debt lawsuits, and ongoing public backlash against platforming him.

Brett Ratner was accused of witnessing and failing to intervene in an alleged sexual assault by Russell Simmons on a 17-year-old model in 1991, during a casting call where Ratner was present

Brett Ratner allegedly used fake DMCA copyright takedown notices to suppress critical reviews and adverse news about his sexual misconduct allegations on Google, potentially involving fraud and perjury as of 2025

Hollywood figures and outlets have labeled Ratner’s return for Rush Hour 4 and the Melania Trump documentary as a “stumbling block” due to unresolved #MeToo allegations, with Lionsgate refusing to hire him in 2024.

Brett Ratner’s career is honestly such a weird mix of blockbuster hits and personal controversy. On one hand, he knows how to make fun, commercial films that people still remember.

Brett Ratner is one of those directors where the movies made you laugh or stay entertained, but knowing what’s been reported about him makes it hard to separate the art from the person. Rush Hour and Red Dragon were huge hits, no doubt, but the sexual misconduct allegations really cloud his legacy. It feels like he had clout and connections, but personal accountability wasn’t on his radar. People still debate if you can enjoy his work while calling out his behavior, and Gen Z is definitely not letting him slide.
