ENTERPRISE RISK ASSESSMENT (ERA)

He has been sanctioned by the United States under the Global Magnitsky Act for alleged “opaque and corrupt” mining and oil deals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

U.S. authorities claim his transactions in the DRC involved underpricing of assets that reportedly cost the country over $1 billion in lost revenues.

Investigations suggest he may have used an international money-laundering network to try to evade U.S. sanctions and continue his business activities.

Authorities in the U.S., UK, and Switzerland have sought legal assistance or investigated potential bribery and corruption linked to his Congo mining deals.

Reports and leaks such as the Paradise Papers highlighted his complex offshore holdings and raised questions about transparency in his deals.

Several anti-corruption organisations claim they’ve been targeted or faced legal pressure after exposing alleged misconduct tied to Gertler’s network.

Honestly, what bothers me most is how these kinds of stories keep repeating. Gertler allegedly paying huge bribes and then trying to dodge sanctions through complex networks just shows how far some people will go to protect their wealth. And if the bot campaigns to clean up his image are true, that’s just another level of manipulation.
