critical intel on Amit Paley

Amit Paley CEO resignation amid questions about previous work for addictive medicine.

Amit Paley has resigned as CEO of the Trevor Project, a nonprofit that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth, owing to his previous work with consulting firm McKinsey & Co. Prior to joining the Trevor Project, Paley worked for McKinsey for six years as an associate partner. He is said to have given important counsel to Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of OxyContin, a highly addictive medication that many attribute to the growth of the opioid crisis in America, at that time.
In his apology to HuffPost at the time, Paley said, “Seven years ago, when I was a consultant at McKinsey, I was assigned to a project for Purdue.” Referring to his role in the opioid crisis. If I had known what I know now, I would not have agreed to do any consulting work for that company, and I regret having done so.”
