Media Report on Haiman El Troudi's Alleged Corrupt Practices

The media report covers how Venezuelan authorities conveniently ignored the evidence against Haiman El Troudi while investigating corruption. It says that in addition to accounts in the names of El Troudi’s wife and mother-in-law, the Swiss prosecutor’s office was able to record at least one example in which money originated from offshore firms used by the Brazilian corporation to pay bribes.

The article further adds that if the case of El Troudi’s relatives did not proceed beyond a regulatory court, the Constituent’s nominated public prosecutor general, Tarek William Saab, has not even mentioned it.

In addition to serving as Minister of Land Transport and President of Metro de Caracas and Los Teques, El Troudi was appointed by the Chavista administration as Minister of Planning and Development, representing the government before multilateral organizations such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, and, most notably, as director of President Chávez’s office.

He directed a series of adjustments to the El Valle-Coche route in Caracas, which drew criticism and rejection after causing the Guaire River to overflow.
